[Music] welcome back everybody to another episode of explain this You Name It We explain it and of course I'm with Robin riddle the star of the show and we've got a really really fun one today because I think it's one of your favorite topics it is it's one of your favorite topic uh guys we're talking about bpc 157 and I know you've heard us talk about I'm sure you've heard Robin talk a little bit about it but today we're going to explain it in detail Robin take it away bpc 157 yeah bpc 157 so bpc 157 is a peptide I've earned the title of peptide Queen around here because I love peptides they're amazing so we're going to do a whole series about all kinds of different peptides but this is one of my favorite ones because it is so versatile we can use it for so many different things so a a peptide is a chain of amino acids um and so different peptides are different length chains okay amino acids are building blocks of the body so bpc is a short chain amino acid it's only 15 um but all that to be said it it's a building block in the body it's a naturally occurring thing um you know our body is made up of amino acids this one is taken from the gastric juices okay so bpc stands for body protection compound and we use it in a bunch of different delivery methods to get different effects out of it I'm using it most commonly right now dosed orally in a pill form because I on top of loving peptides I also love gut health um and this is amazing for gut health this stimulates uh all kinds of healing for anything going on in the gut so so bpc can you explain that one more time I I'm still the amino acid thing I'm lost guys I so DPC explain that one more time for me okay so a a peptide is a chain of amino acids okay and depending on what amino acids are hooked together is what peptide it is and what it does for us so there's peptides that are longer branched chains that stimulate growth hormone levels okay HGH human growth hormone is a type of peptide it's a longer chain like 150 something chain so it just however long the chain is and whatever's Linked In is what peptide it is and I'm I'm assuming they're compounded so a bpc 157 is a compounded thing similar to biod I hormon right and we taking in pill form for this purpose pill form is for the gut um so this is great for people who have you know they've had colonoscopies and been told they have inflammation or colitis um somebody who's gotten the diagnosis of IBD IBS Crohn's ulcerative citis somebody who just has ulcers um anything like that bpc 157 can be amazing for it um so it goes in and stimulates all the the endothelial cells lining the intestines it stimulates regrowth so is that something you take weekly the oral form or is it monthly daily daily okay daily um and so one of the tests that I love doing because I love gut health is a GI map and on our GI map which is where this bpc comes up all the time on the GI map we look at Cal protectin which is inflammation okay and we look at zulin which is an indicator of leaky gut so anybody who has elevated cow protectant elevated zulin I'm talking about bpc 157 cuz I'm wanting to heal that gut so you're wanting to it's leaky so you're wanting to um get everything to go back together getting through right got it any like I said any inflammation even gastritis people with heartburn you know people who have had barits esophagitis anything where there's been damage anywhere in the gut it's really beneficial okay now there's other ways to deliver bpc157 there is they call it the Wolverine drug which I love um because it can heal it heals everything um so taken in an intramuscular or subcutaneous injection bpc157 can heal muscles tendons ligaments okay so I've literally seen people be able to avoid surgeries like say you tear your rotator cough take this as an injection for a couple of months and you can avoid having to have surgery because you stimulate the body to naturally heal that are you are you injecting it directly into the injured spot all in the stomach you can go into the stomach if it's a shoulder like I'd probably do the shot close to the shoulder you're not injecting into the joint though it's a Once um daily injection that the patients do themselves at home and I'm assuming the the compound just goes straight to the injured spot it kind of knows where to roll knows knows what it needs to hit that is super interesting so you can actually even take it in an intranasal um like a nose spray and it can go to the brain and help regenerate neurons so they're using it for traumatic brain injuries they're researching it in Parkinson's and allers it's it's amazing w it's amazing now is that something you stay on for a long time it really depends the effect that we're getting out of it it doesn't hurt to be on it for a long time okay um for patients that I'm seeing the issues that are coming back on a GI map I tell them I want them on it at least two to three months that starts to see your full Effectiveness if at that point they're like yeah I think I'm good like I want to come off of it for a little while we try and see okay um but it's something I have some patients that stay on it for a year or longer because they they love it and they're feeling good on it so for the people who are doing it for gut health reasons are you combining that with a probiotic always or is there always everybody needs to be on a probiotic if you're not you need to be on a probiotic um because in that's why I love the GI map we go in we fix the infections or whatever problems we see there and once we have fixed that we add the bpc 157 in to start healing things the probiotic to rebuild things get everything back on track would would the giat be the only way to find out if if I'm a candidate for bpc157 no in all honesty bpc 157 is so safe there's very minimal side effects if somebody just came in and said hey that sounds awesome and I want to take it like I want the Let's Do It Let's Do It um yeah I mean the name just sounds so cool yes yes easy to much easier to remember than bpc157 the Wolverine drug um no it does all kinds of awesome things and so I I love it it's a really awesome qu guys that is bpc157 or as Robin says the Wolverine drug uh check it out Robin thank you so much for explaining this absolutely guys this is explain this with Robin riddle You Name It We explain it today was bpc157 we're going to link in the show notes the the common sense mg episode with Robin and Dr Rogers on the GI map just so you can check that out uh as always we'll see you guys next time don't [Music]
